Neodymium( III ) oxide is a bluish-purple crystalline substance that is insoluble in water. Crystals can have several modifications :
- α- Nd 2 O 3 ;
- β- Nd 2 O 3 ;
Neodymium( III ) oxide is used for doping glass. Neodymium glass is used in sunglasses, welding glasses. Some of the neodymium glasses are dichroic, i.e. it changes color depending on the lighting. Neodymium(III) oxide is also used as polymerization .
