Tin dichloride - white or grayish translucent crystals that turn yellow when melted. As the temperature rises, they turn brown. Well soluble in water. Fairly stable under normal conditions .
Salt is used in the synthesis of organic dyes and as a mordant in dyeing. Anhydrous tin dichloride is required for tin plating. In addition, it is used as a food additive (E512) .
