It is produced by vapor-phase amination of a substance such as ethanol with ammonia over aluminum oxide (Al2O3) or silicon oxide (SiO2) vapor at a temperature of three hundred and fifty to four hundred and fifty degrees and a pressure of twenty to two hundred atmospheres.
