Wetting agents are highly soluble in water, have a low odor and a slightly alkaline reaction. Wetting agents are obtained by treating mono- and dialkylphenols with ethylene oxide.
The chemical formula is O(CH 2 -CH 2 -O) nCH 2 -CH 2 -OH, n=7-9 (for substance OP-7).
