Sodium sulfide is an inorganic substance, an oxygen-free salt that is sensitive to environmental humidity and slowly oxidizes in air. It dissolves well in water, but is not stable in the form of a solution, it quickly oxidizes. May be airborne as an aerosol. Toxic in contact with the skin and mucous membranes of humans and animals. Its content in the air is normalized by MPC values. On contact with acids, it reacts with the release of hydrogen sulfide.
