It is a complex compound of divalent iron, which usually exists in the form of a trihydrate.
It has the appearance of a crystalline substance of a transparent, shiny, bright yellow color. When water is lost, the substance becomes colorless.
Good solubility in water, forms a solution of the same color, very bad - in alcohol, ether, aniline. Destroyed at high temperature. Actively reacts with any acids. Reactions with oxidizing agents lead to the production of red blood salt. Yellow blood salt forms poorly soluble compounds when interacting with salts of certain metals, this property is used to detect ions of these metals in solution.
