Chloroparaffin HP-470 is a technical product, a viscous, honey-like transparent liquid without mechanical impurities and odor, colorless or having a color from yellow to light brown, sometimes with slight opalescence. Produced according to TU 2493-379-05763441-2002.
Slow-burning, low-toxic substance (hazard class III), requiring the use of personal protective equipment for the skin and eyes when working with it. When heated above 200 ° C, hydrogen chloride can be released. Non-volatile, fire- and explosion-proof.
The production of chlorinated liquid paraffin consists in the chlorination of molten paraffin at an elevated temperature, cooling and stripping off chlorine and perchloric acid, and adding stabilizers, most often epoxy compounds. The product has high solubility in lubricating and mineral oils, ketones, ethers and organochlorine solvents. Compatible with rubbers and various resins.

Where is it applied?
- In the production of paint and varnish and building materials, as well as PVC pastes (polyvinyl chloride) and plastoins;
- As a plasticizer: chlorinated paraffin grades A1 and A2 - for light polymer compositions (linoleum, films, shoe and cable compounds), chlorinated paraffin grade B - for dark compositions;
- For the manufacture of lubricants
- As an impregnation in order to impart hydrophobic and fireproof properties to materials, it is used for processing fabrics, leather, tarpaulin, paper, rubber products and polymer films.
- Chlorinated paraffin HP-470 is used for the production of soft tiles, nitrocellulose varnishes in the woodworking industry;
- In the production of paints: alkyd, acrylic, road, silicate enamels and car enamels;
- As additives for lubricants operating at high pressure.
- In some plasticizers, it plays the role of a cheap liquid filler. The replacement of an expensive component (for example, tricresyl phosphate, dioctyl phthalate and dibutyl phthalate) with HP-470 chlorine paraffin can be up to 50%.
