This salt has the appearance of a colorless oily liquid, fuming in air. Soluble in water and many organic solvents. It can also act as a solvent itself (it dissolves sulfur, phosphorus, iron and antimony chlorides well). It is an extremely toxic substance .
Application:
- to obtain high frequency arsenic;
- high purity anhydrous arsenic trichloride is used to produce gallium arsenide;
- as an additive in the production of semiconductors and pharmaceuticals;
- for the synthesis of arsenic compounds .
