The inorganic compound silver sulfate is white crystals, which are sparingly soluble in water, soluble in acids, alcohols (except ethanol), acetone. There are two modifications of crystals, the temperature transition is 427°C, and at 660°C it melts without decomposition .
Silver sulfate is used in calorimetry as a chemical standard for calibrating calorimeters for temperature and heat capacity .
