Salt tablets are pressed pure table salt "Extra" without impurities in the form of small white tablets.
Tableted salt is used in water purification systems, namely in the regeneration of ion-exchange resins involved in softening hard water. Reacting with hard water, ion exchange resins replace the calcium and magnesium ions contained in it with sodium ions. But such a process cannot last forever, because as the sodium content in the resin decreases, the filter becomes inefficient. Water passing through it no longer gets rid of hardness salts. To remedy the situation, use table salt. It replenishes the sodium ions in the resins, and the filter works well again.
Salt tablets properties:
