Sodium polyacrylate - sodium salt of polyacrylic acid, is a polymeric anionic surfactant. Appears to be a white crystalline powder. Completely soluble in water and other alkaline solutions, no precipitate is formed. It is incompatible with chitosan. When forming emulsions, it is desirable to focus on non-ionic or cationic components. Most commonly used to absorb liquids, and as an additive to drilling salt and fresh fluids used to reduce fluid loss.
Used as an additive:
- in detergents;
- in thickeners;
- bath gels;
- into paints.
In the production of pulp, paper, and food processing, it is used as a dispersant and inhibitor. Based on sodium polyacrylate, superabsorbent polymers are made, which are used as the main filler in diapers.
