The polymerization involves the reaction of acrylamide and bis-acrylamide in ammonium persulfate and tetramethylethylenediamine. Upon reaction, these substances lead to the formation of free radicals from persulfate, which, in turn, begins polymerization by converting acrylamide monomers into free radicals. The polymerization process is completed by the reaction of the converted acrylamide monomer and free radicals with non-activated monomers.
