Polyacrylamide-gel is a copolymer of polyacrylamide and acrylates, the content of which in the substance does not exceed 10%. It is a transparent viscous jelly-like mass or granules, the color of which may have a yellow, blue or green tint. The production of polyacrylamide gel for technical purposes is based on the hydrolysis of acrylic acid compounds (nitriles) with sulfuric acid, the residue of which is neutralized with ammonia and polymerized to obtain polyacrylamide containing ammonium acrylate. In the composition of ammonia polyacrylamide, the percentage of polymer is 5-6%, ammonium sulfate - 14-18%, insoluble substances - up to 0.1%.
The chemical formula is -(CH-CH(CONH 2 ))-n.

Polyacrylamide-gel does not possess flammability and explosiveness; according to the impact on the human body, it is classified as a hazard class 4. The substance is packaged in bags, the walls of which consist of three layers - paper, polyethylene and polypropylene. It is recommended to store polyacrylamide gel no more than 4 months from the date of manufacture. The temperature in the storage room should not exceed 35°C, the container should be closed to prevent the substance from drying out.
