Tungsten trioxide is a lemon yellow powder. The substance has acidic properties. Practically insoluble in water and mineral acids .
Tungsten trioxide is used to obtain other tungsten compounds (carbides and halides) and as a catalyst in the hydrogenation and cracking of hydrocarbons. It is also used as a yellow pigment in the coloring of glassware and ceramics .
