Cerium(IV) oxide is an inorganic compound that has the appearance of a pale yellow-white refractory powder. We will not dissolve in water. Cerium(IV) oxide is formed by roasting cerium oxalate or cerium hydroxide .
The main uses of cerium dioxide are for polishing, especially chemical-mechanical planarization (CMP). Also used in ceramics and for photosensitive glasses. Including cerium dioxide is used as a catalyst, abrasive, electrolyte in fuel cells .
