The substance has the form of yellow-green crystals that do not dissolve in cold water, but react with hot water. Praseodymium(III) oxide has a high melting and boiling point (> 2000°C and ≈ 4300°C, respectively) .
Application :
- in combination with silicon, it is used as a dielectric;
- for alloying glasses and as a yellow pigment for their dyeing;
- used in welding goggles, tk. blocks IR radiation .
