Copper

At atomic number 29 is the chemical element copper. In the periodic system, it is an element of group I of the side subgroup. The Latin name for copper Cuprum (ancient Aes cuprium, Aes cyprium) comes from the name of the island of Cyprus, where there was a rich deposit. Copper occurs in nature both in compounds and in native form .

The simple substance copper is a ductile transition metal of golden pink color (pink in the absence of an oxide film) .

Application area

Copper, its compounds and alloys are widely used in various industries .

In its pure form, copper is used in electrical engineering: in the production of cable products, bare and contact wire tires, power generators, telephone and telegraph equipment and radio equipment .

Due to the high thermal conductivity of copper, it is used in the manufacture of heat sinks, heat exchangers, which include cooling, air conditioning and heating radiators .

Copper alloys with other metals are used in mechanical engineering, in the automotive and tractor industries, for the manufacture of chemical equipment .

Copper salt, namely copper sulfate (copper (II) sulfate), is used in agriculture. It stimulates the active growth of various crops, protects them from pests, trees, shrubs, and seeds are treated with vitriol solution .

Copper is also used in medicine for the treatment of acute insufficiency and quality in therapy (use of metal applications or bracelets) .
