Tungsten (VI) chloride is an inorganic compound that forms dark purple crystals. There are two modifications -α and β. Transformation temperature 227 - 230 °C. Soluble in alcohols, ethers, benzene, carbon disulfide, carbon tetrachloride. Decomposes slowly in air.
It is used as a coating on non-metal surfaces, as a raw material for metal tungsten and to obtain high purity tungsten.
