Bismuth(I II ) chloride is a binary inorganic compound of bismuth metal with chlorine .
Under normal conditions, it is a white (colorless) or pale yellow crystalline, very hygroscopic substance. It melts (T pl .= 234°С) and boils (T boil .= 440°С) without decomposition .
Bismuth chloride is used to produce high-frequency bismuth metal and other bismuth salts, as well as a catalyst in organic synthesis and as a component of pigments and cosmetics .
