<Manganese(II) chloride is a pink salt of manganese and hydrochloric acid. It dissolves well in water. It forms two crystalline hydrates of the composition MnCl 2 •4H 2 O and MnCl 2 •2H 2 .
Manganese chloride is used in the synthesis of organometallic compounds of manganese and in the production of batteries. Also used for dyeing fabrics (manganese bistre).
