Lithium chloride is a salt of lithium and hydrochloric acid. Forms colorless hygroscopic crystals, readily soluble in water. It also forms fusible alloys with other alkali metals and several crystalline hydrates .
Scope :
- to obtain lithium (electrolysis);
- as a solid electrolyte;
- in pyrotechnics;
- as a desiccant;
- as an air absorber in the production of certain organic compounds;
- a saturated solution is used as a de-icer .
