Forms colorless crystals. It dissolves well in water. Forms a crystalline hydrate of composition GdCl 3 •6H 2 O .
Salt is used as a component for the creation of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and spectroscopy devices. Also, gadolinium chloride is used in ultra-low temperature processes .
Including gadolinium chloride has found application in medicine. It is used in the treatment of the liver and for diagnostic purposes .
