Sodium hypochlorite is an inorganic compound, the sodium salt of hypochlorous acid. Anhydrous sodium hypochlorite is an unstable colorless crystalline substance that is highly soluble in water. It is usually used in the form of a relatively stable pentahydrate (the most stable form is white rhombic crystals) or an aqueous solution.
An aqueous solution of hypochlorite is a strong oxidizing agent, has a powerful bactericidal activity, has a characteristic pungent smell of chlorine and has high corrosive properties. The trivial (historical) name of an aqueous solution of salt is "Labarrac water" or "javel water".
A solution of sodium hypochlorite is obtained in a factory way - by absorbing chlorine with a solution of caustic soda. In some industries, hypochlorite solutions are waste products.

Tanks, tank trucks, containers, polyethylene and glass containers are filled with sodium hypochlorite no more than 90% of the volume.
If the storage requirements of sodium hypochlorite are met, the loss of active chlorine after 10 days is allowed no more than 30% relative to the initial content.
Polyethylene canisters, barrels and bottles with sodium hypochlorite solution are stored in covered warehouses or under a canopy, excluding sunlight at a temperature not higher than +35 ° C and relative humidity not higher than 80%.
