This inorganic compound is the product of the interaction of concentrated sulfuric acid and sodium hydroxide, and has the form of colorless crystals. The melting point of sodium hydrogen sulfate is 186°C. Can form crystalline hydrates .
Sodium hydrogen sulfate is used as a food additive E514, a flux in non-ferrous metallurgy and a reagent for converting sparingly soluble oxides into soluble sulfates. In addition, it is used as a reagent (in the form of powder or granules) to lower the pH level in swimming pools .
